The Rhetta Washington McCoy Technology scholarship is to be awarded to high school seniors who exhibits high academic standards and who does not have the technology to be successful at a 4 year college or university. 

The winner will be selected on the documentation and recommendations submitted and an interview.  The winner will be honored in Spring 2023.

​The winner will receive a scholarship of a technology bundle. There are two options.  

• Option 1 consists of a laptop, laptop bag and 3 in 1 printer and 2 ink color (black/tri- color) print cartridges.

• Option 2 consists of a 3 in 1 printer, 2 ink color(black/tri-color) print cartridges, Microsoft Windows Suite and a flash drive.

1. Must be a high school senior.
2. Must plan to pursue post high school studies (4 year college).
3. Must be active in the community or other organizations.
   
4. Must be a resident of Dallas county.
5. Minimum GPA 2.5

2. Then scan the following documents:
   1. Digital photo (headshot)  in JPEG or PNG format
   2. Official high school transcript with rank and unweighted GPA (4.0 scale)
   3. Two letters of recommendation with one being from your school counselor. (Recommendations should be addressed to the Scholarship Committee of Kappa Zeta with a signature and contact information.)
   4. Documentation of volunteer hours, awards, etc. with dates of activities and total hours calculated
   5. Brief statement of why the applicant is deserving of this award and how he or she will use this technology in his/her academic career.
   6. In 500 words or less, explain how you predict technology will change the world in the next 5 years.
3. Attach and send documents to Scholarship Committee:
   1. Gmail Account Holder: Please create a folder with your supporting documentation. Be sure to update the share settings on your folder to include that "anyone with the link" may view. Your folder should be titled:  “Rhetta Washington McCoy Scholarship_[your First and Last name].”  Send the folder link to kappazpbscholarship1920@gmail.com  by 11:59 PM on Friday, March 31, 2023. Please title your email subject “Rhetta Washington McCoy Scholarship_[your First and Last name].”
   2. Non- Gmail Account Holder: Email your PDF file which includes your transcript, letters of recommendation, community service hours, and statement. Your digital photo will need to be attached separately as a JPEG or PNG. Send all documents to kappazpbscholarship1920@gmail.com by 11:59 PM on Friday, March 31, 2023. The subject of your email should be "Rhetta Washington McCoy Scholarship_[your First and Last name].”
