QueenDenise Okeke

My name is QueenDenise Okeke and come from a family of six. I came to Dallas from Atlanta at the age of five, and later moved to Irving, TX when I was nine. I went to Paul Keyes Elementary and Austin Middle School at Irving, and am currently a senior at Irving High School with a 4.0 GPA, ranking sixth out of 456 students.

Growing up, I have enjoyed being active by participating in school activities. I have participated in track, volleyball, and basketball throughout my middle and high school years. I am a Student Council Officer, Secretary of the National Honor Society, Varsity Track and Volleyball Captain. I take great pride in my community and love participating in church activities at St. Luke’s Catholic Church.

During the summer, I work at my local mall at the Isis Bridal and Formal Wear store. Most of my earnings go towards family expenses and savings for college. I hope to continue my education at Columbia University, receive my bachelor degree and doctorate degree, and pursue my life goal of owning my own practice and researching in stem cell in organ reconstruction, which I believe will be a great advancement in the medical field.

Emily Conly

I am a leader, a hard worker and above all an individual. I am currently the Battalion Commander of the JROTC program, the president of the Freshmen Mentor Program, also an officer in the National Honor Society for the second year. The National Honor Society is a program with high membership standards; which include scholarship, service, leadership, and above all character. Members are held in high regards not only on campus but in the community as well.

I have dedicated an immense portion of my life to service to my membership in these three programs, to my church and to the local Animal Shelter, which have all helped me become service oriented. I also play varsity sports; cross country, volleyball, and softball. I always try and do my best and the right thing no matter who is looking, I can say that no matter the amount of stress that is placed upon me I will persevere and make something of myself. I have over come many adversities in my life that have made me stronger and contributed many great attributes to the person that I am today in respect to who I will continue to grow into tomorrow.
